Challenge
Pinterest was looking for ways to increase sales of its on-platform advertising solutions to small and medium sized business (SMBs) worldwide.
The company was primarily focused on selling ads to enterprises and had only limited outreach to SMBs. Competitors were aggressively targeting their own ad solutions to SMBs which contributed to a steady decline in organic interest in ads on Pinterest.
Solution
I was a member of the deal team that established an Accenture managed service to operate Pinterest’s SMB advertising sales globally.
Solution included lead generation, qualification, advertising solution selling, onboarding, account management, and reporting.
~770 sellers acquired and grew SMB advertisers across US, Canada, Japan, LATAM, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia.
Impact
Sales team consistently drives +$450M/year. $200M comes from LATAM, Europe, ANZ, Japan combined while $250M comes from just the US and Canada.
Achieved 46% annual growth rate (CAGR) in international SMB sales since Accenture established the ad sales managed service.
